A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
Counselling and psychotherapy are about listening and raising awareness of your unique strengths and resources and helping people to find a way forward.
Few people in everyday life; even friends or family really listen to us.
We discover ourselves when we are allowed to be ourselves in a safe, non judgmental space. It can be the beginning of allowing change into our lives and making different choices.
I am a Transpersonal Psychotherapist and Counsellor and hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling with WPF and a PG Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling with CCPE, London.
I have over 25 years experience as a therapist and also 30 years as a Registered Nurse with the NHS.
I like to work creatively, holistically and flexibly (in agreement with my client) in a variety of ways such as drawing and art, guided visualisation, roleplay, meditation, inner childwork and mindfulness.
My approach draws from my training in psychodynamic counselling which helps you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences and your unconscious mind and impulses.
I also practice a therapeutic pluralism in which effective interventions are drawn from several different therapy approaches. For the the most part I work from an interpersonal and transpersonal frame of reference.
In transpersonal psychotherapy, personal breakdowns and crises are seen to have a useful purpose in that they act as a warning signal as well as an opportunity to grow and unfold.
Transpersonal therapy is integrated into traditional therapeutic methods of counselling and psychotherapy.
I was a volunteer counsellor with Freshstart in London, The Caravan Drop in and Counselling Service at St. James's Piccadilly London, Place2Be and also as an Autism Ambassador. I deal with a whole range of issues which include:

Sessions usually last 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis, and cost £50.00 per session and £65.00 per session for adults. Contact me to enquire about availability. I offer appointments 9am to 8pm Wednesdays and Thursdays with a free 15 minute telephone conversation to ensure counselling feels right for you.
If you have any questions about counselling or psychotherapy, or would like to arrange an initial assessment, feel free to reach out. This first meeting allows us to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, explore how it may support you, and determine if I am the right therapist for your needs.
I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. All communication is strictly confidential and handled through secure phone and email services.
Counselling tends to focus on specific problems such as depression, anxiety, grief and therapy often delves deeper into the past and is particular useful for those with longer term problems.
This will depend on the client's wishes and preference. The client may want specifically short term therapy with a fixed number or sessions, e.g. 6 or 12. However they may prefer open ended if they would like to explore more complex issues.
I work part time so my availability is limited, however I will endeavour to arrange an appointment as soon as a mutually available time can be agreed.
All counselling is treated confidentially. An exception to this confidentiality is when a client informs the counsellor that they intend to harm themselves or others, or in such circumstances as stated as per the 'British Association Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions', in which case the Counsellor shall inform the client that she is obliged to notify the relevant authorities.
